According to John Iacono, Chairman of the Lexus National Dealer Advisory Council, major changes are in the pipeline for the Lexus line-up. He spoke with Automotive News. New products are coming soon, as well as some needed tech improvements.
Iacono stated that Lexus’ vehicle introduction cadence It wasn’t what the dealers wanted in the last two years. They wanted more changes to the brand’s product line. Now, that’s changing. These include the “true three row people mover,” as Iacono calls it. It is most likely the successor of the Lexus LX, which wears the LQ moniker. A new LS version is also in development. He stated that not many people understand the LS’s purpose, and it will serve as a benchmark for the brand.
Iacono confirms rumors that Lexus is developing a rugged off-road vehicle. This will be a low volume, halo model that Lexus will offer and will be very different from the standard Lexus. Although a report earlier stated that the SUV has a body on-frame chassis, there isn’t much more information.
This premium brand will also get an electric vehicle. Iacono stated that he and other Lexus dealers had a look at what the future might look like for Lexus. The rest of the world may see the vehicle soon , because the marque teased a concept (gallery atop) that featured an electric powertrain and will debut it in the first quarter 2021.
