It should be available soon in a lightweight track-focused version.
The Lexus RC F GT concept is still in use. It was released in June 2015, and was designed to tackle the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The production car had the 5.0-liter V8 engine. However, the race car was 800 pounds lighter (363 kg) thanks to extensive carbon fiber use. Its weight was reduced to 3,130 lbs (1.420 kg) thanks to the strict diet.
You’ll be delighted to receive the spy shots. LexusXS The production version of the track-ready RC F GT is in development. Although it won’t be able lose so much weight, the vented carbon fibre hood is a sign that the machine will shed quite a few pounds. We expect a variety of carbon fiber bits, and possibly even a stripped-down cabin. The large wing at its back suggests that major aero upgrades are underway for the range-topping RC.
Although the prototype has been camouflaged, it is easy to see the reshaped taillights and headlights that were featured in the regular RC facelift. The large air intakes are now more attractive, and the ones located at the bottom corners on the corporate spindle grille have also changed.
It will be interesting for the V8 to find out if it will receive a boost in output or if it will remain with the R’s 468 horsepower (527 Newton-meters of torque) and 389 pounds-feet (389 lb-ft). The GT’s lower weight will make it faster, even though these power figures will not change. The standard weighs in at 3,958 lbs (1.795 kg) and can reach 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds. It tops out at 160 mph (270 km/h).
The standard RC facelift is already available so it’s only a matter time before we see the RC F with its new GT partner. It could be at the Los Angeles Auto Show this month or January 2019 at NAIAS Detroit.
