It all comes down to the power-to weight ratio.
You may have seen the latest series of Hoonicorn VS The World. Ken Block is no more the master of the legendary all-wheel-drive Ford Mustang. Lia, his 14-year-old daughter, now drives the 1,400-horsepower monster. She’s doing well against some very tough competition. She’s now up against a car that has less than half the power of the Hoonicorn, so it shouldn’t be a difficult day at work.
This week’s challenge is a race car with 650 horsepower. It can also turn only the rear wheels and has a turbocharged honda engine with just four cylinders. The 2018 Wolf GB08 TSC–LT is its name. If you are familiar with the Pikes Peak Hillclimb, you will know that this car has been able to conquer the mountain several times. It may also have been seen on the Hoonigan YouTube channel, where it competed in a This vs That race. According to the Hoonigan YouTube channel, 650 horsepower is enough for a car that weighs only 1,300 pounds. This is a very good matchup. It’s a great matchup from a roll. Ms. Block and the Hoonicorn race side-by-side over a 1,000-foot race. For an easy win, she takes advantage of the Hoonicorn’s AWD grip to jump ahead early. The Honda-powered Pikes Peak racer finishes second, proving it can move very quickly once it starts. Race number two has both cars launch even from a side by side roll at around 20 mph. The result is quite different. Lia loses almost two cars.
To keep things competitive, the final fight is a roll race, but Lia launches at a faster speed than 20 mph. Ms. Block has a clear advantage because the Hoonicorn’s engine starts at a higher RPM. This, along with a misaligned shift in the Pikes Peak racer gives Lia and the Hoonicorn another win in this series. What’s next? Expect more Hoonicorn activity from the younger Block this week, as new races are being added every three to four working days.
