It will be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
Because of its style, comfort, impressive safety, and fuel economy, the Lincoln Aviator was our highest-ranked vehicle in 2020 . With the Aviator Shinola Concept, a luxury brand owned by Ford, the brand is now preparing for possible updates to the SUV. This concept was created in collaboration with Shinola.
Lincoln designers visited Shinola’s Detroit flagship showroom and were inspired by the brand’s visual themes to include some of these elements into the Aviator. The team began with a watch, a duffle bag and a bicycle seat and then adapted some ideas from Shinola to create an exclusive SUV show car.
The exterior color of the Aviator Shinola is white because it was inspired by Shinola’s mother-of-pearl stone watch dials that have hints of blue. Copper accents are inspired by the copper-plated structure attached to a Shinola Runwell bicycle seat.
The cabin is adorned with creme suede upholstery and Shinola whiskey leather. The seat stitching was inspired by Shinola’s brand stripe. It is scaled to suit the sizes and shapes of each seat. To reflect Lincoln’s brand image, a blue accent has been added. The center console has a woven mesh finish that continues to the second-row console.
“It’s about warm, human and personally crafted experiences. Knowing and feeling that leather watch strap on your wrist is a quality Lincoln DNA has to offer,” says Liam Butler (Lincoln color and material designer). “That’s what I wanted to recreate here in all the stitching, copper accents and textures – all tied back to the idea Quiet Flight.”
We hope that the Aviator Shinola concept, which will be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later in the month, will be available for purchase.
