Lincoln Continental looks pretty sweet with suicide doors This feature might tempt you to purchase a new Continental. The Lincoln Continental is not selling well, especially since the start of this year. The model was sold more than 1,845 times in December 2016, but the number of deliveries in January and February 2018 is only 815 and 758, respectively. This may lead to the manufacturer discontinuing the sedan. However, slow sales might motivate the Ford-owned company to create new versions to try to attract more customers. According to a recent report, the Continental could get suicide doors within the next few years. This exclusive rendering is likely very similar to the one that was shown to dealers at the 2018 National Automobile Dealers Association meeting in Las Vegas. Although nothing is certain at this time, Automotive News first reported that the Continental could have suicide doors. We should expect to see the outrageous solution next year. The new doors could be seen by Lincoln as a last-ditch effort either to increase sales or to slow down their decline, given that it is still unclear if Lincoln will end production of the model before the end. This old-school design actually works well with the car’s design, as our rendering shows. The fourth generation model of the Continental inspired some design details. This was the first car from the automaker with suicide doors. This feature is another nice nod towards its predecessor. Suicide doors aren’t very popular in today’s world outside of RollsRoyce, but Lincoln is reportedly trying to “demonstrate brand’s commitment for its car lineup.” A vehicle very similar to this rendering should be available very soon. We are eager to see it.
