Lingenfelter Will Do what Chevy won’t: Supercharge the Blazer

The tuner will try to make one.

The Chevy Blazer was introduced last year with a bold nameplate and wild styling. Although its aggressive sheet metal suggests sportier ambitions, it lacks the kick in the kidneys necessary for the “Performance Crossover.” designation. Lingenfelter will change all that, according to an exclusive report by Muscle cars and Trucks. Aftermarket tuning company will supercharge the Blazer’s engine.

Lingenfelter’s supercharger system wasn’t intended for the Blazer. This kit was originally designed to be a performance upgrade for the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. It uses an Edelbrock TVS1740 Supercharger. The kit bolts to the top GM’s LGX 3.6L V6 engine. It produces 450 horsepower (335 kilowatts) at crank. The stock mill produces 308 horsepower (229 kW).

Lingenfelter Will Do what Chevy won't: Supercharge the Blazer

According to the report Muscle Cars & Trucks After receiving unexpected demand, Lingenfelter plans to build a supercharged Blazer. The engines are the same for the crossover and trucks, so the supercharger can fit even though the Blazer has its mill positioned transversely underneath the hood. According to Mark Rapson, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering Vice-President, all-wheel drive would be necessary, he said.

Lingenfelter doesn’t seem to be releasing the Blazer supercharger kit yet. Lingenfelter’s website has the supercharger package available for purchase for the Colorado or Canyon for $6,995. The Blazer is still unlisted.

Lingenfelter will make “one” supercharged Blazer for now. Lingenfelter is probably looking into what modifications will be required for the new crossover in order to deliver the extra power and still keep it safe and fun. Lingenfelter and other aftermarket companies can fill in for Chevy if they don’t deliver what consumers want. Although we may not be able to get a Blazer SS, there are many aftermarket companies that could provide something similar or even better.
