They are easy to tell apart.
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has been spotted racing at high speeds around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. This clip will show you how the new model sounds compared to the Corvette.
Jeroen, Carspotter, is one of many people who records what automakers test at the Ring. This video shows the standard C8 of July 2019 and Z06 of August 2021 running on the same tracks. These differences are remarkable, especially in terms of sound.
The standard C8 Corvette’s 6.2-liter V8 produces 490 horsepower (365kilowatts) as well as 465 pound-feet (637 Newton-meters). This can be upgraded to 495 horsepower (369 kW) or 470 lb/ft (637 Nm) with the optional performance exhaust. An eight-speed automatic is the only available gearbox.
Although we don’t know the exact engine that the Z06 uses, the most popular rumor is that is a modified V8 from the C8.R racing car. According to the mill, it can move 5.5-liters. The mill has two overhead camshafts as well as a flat-plane crankshaft. This allows for a redline of 9,000 rpm. It could produce around 617 horsepower (460 kW).
It is still a little mysterious as to what the Z06’s gearbox looks like. It seems to have a magnesium cover to save weight. You can hear the transmission shifting quickly in the videos.
The C8’s V8 of 6.2-liters sounds like a muscle car, but the Z06’s mill is louder. It sounds more like an Italian supercar’s raspy howl.
The Z06 is also more aggressive. The Z06 has larger openings in its front fascia, canards at corners, side inlets that are larger, and a big wing. The exhausts now exit from the middle.
The Z06 will debut on October 26, but it won’t be available for purchase until the model year 2023.
