Big Apple gets an all-electric SUV design.
The Airflow Concept was first shown to us at CES earlier this year. It boasts all-wheel drive and two 201-horsepower (150 kilowatts) electric drive modules. It also has an estimated 350-mile driving range. The New York Auto Show will now feature a second Airflow Concept. Chrysler claims that this concept will be slightly different from the first. The updated “grille” on the Airflow concept was shown in a teaser image earlier this week. Chrysler also promises a “new look” for the concept, which will debut later today. This image suggests that the Airflow concept will have a darker exterior paint job and minor exterior updates. It will likely be closer to production-ready as the CES concept.
Chrysler plans to launch its first EV in 2025. It’s possible that Airflow could be that vehicle. It and all other Chrysler EVs will follow the same STLA architecture (say, “Stella”), we know. The Airflow will be the middle-sized segment of the trio. Chrysler claims that all future STLA models will have at least a 400-volt architecture. There may be some 800-volt models in the future.
The updated concept car will be on display at the New York Auto Show until Chrysler has confirmed a production version. The event will be livestreamed by Chrysler on YouTube at 11:45 ET (3:45 GMT). Keep this tab open to view the most recent Airflow version online.
