Lotus Elan delay to 2016 - At the earliest

Lotus refused to explain, but they assured Car and Driver that the Evora would be allowed to live a more traditional life-cycle.

You were optimistic that Lotus’ huge product expansion would go smoothly. However, the company has now announced that the Elan will not be available until 2016, at the earliest.

Although Lotus did not provide any explanations, they informed Car and Driver that the Evora would be allowed to “have a more traditional life-cycle.” This is significant because the Elan was originally scheduled to launch in 2013, replacing the aforementioned model. This is a shame, but a range of Evora models, including a convertible and track-oriented model, will likely be revealed in the next few years.

Lotus has confirmed plans to launch the Esprit in 2013, despite delays. Consider our fingers crossed.
