Are you looking for something rare? This Lotus Exige S 260 Sport is one of three imported to the U.S.
In 2000, the Lotus Exige was introduced and immediately received praise from enthusiasts for its willingness to corner. The Elise was not a quarter mile monster. Its entire performance portfolio was built almost entirely on weight savings.
Lotus decided that it would be a good idea in 2009 to increase the power output of the four-cylinder Exige engine. The standard Exige’s base version produced 190 horsepower, but the S 260 Sport package adds 257 horsepower. The Exige would go from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds due to its curb weight of only 2,020 pounds.
These high-horsepower models were only ever made, and each one sold for $74,995 new. This Exige S 260 Sports is the only one ever imported from North America. It is currently available on eBay with a Buy It Now price of $92,231.
The Exige’s looks are what give it an edge over its stock sibling, aside from its power. New aerodynamics have been added to the exterior, such as carbon fiber diffusers at the front and rear and a substantial rear wing. The S 260 is 57 lbs lighter than the stock model, even with these fast add-ons.
Only minor modifications have been made to the interior. This model is distinguished from the base version by the inclusion of Alcantara on its dashboard and updated cues such as the “260” logo with red seats embroidered in red.
The current owner, Gator Motorsport, purchased this Lotus from a private collection in February with just 4,820 miles. This lovely Lotus needs a new home. It has new fluids, new tires and a fresh paint job.
