It was a surprise to the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 as well as Renault Megane RS Trophy R.
Cyan Racing, formerly known as Polestar took the Nurburgring record with a four-door production car using a Volvo S60 Polestar in 2016. However, the company decided to keep it secret for about one year. The record was improved many times since then, so the company is no longer the holder of the title. The Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept, however, continues the S60 Polestar’s record for fastest four-door car in the Green Hell.
Cyan Racing is taking a different approach. They’re not only announcing the record-breaking attempt immediately after it happens, but they also provide video evidence. Thed Bjork, WCTR Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver, was behind the wheel of the 528-horsepower sedan. He covered the entire 20.8-km (12.9 mile) route. Nordschleife “North Loop” was completed in 7 minutes, 20.1 seconds and averaged 105.8 mph (170.4 km/h). Cyan Racing wanted to highlight that other automakers use the shorter 20.6-km (12.8 mile) track configuration, so the lap time of this concept is even better.
Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept shaved three seconds off the lap time of the Jaguar XE SV Project8 which completed a run on the 20.8-km track in 7:31 and 23.1 seconds. The sedan’s speed also surpassed the previous record of the fastest front-wheel-drive car at the German track. This was previously held by the Renault Megane RS Trophy -R, who finished the lap in 7 minutes, 45.3 seconds. The circuit was shorter than the Jag’s 7:18.3 seconds and Renault’s 7:40.1 seconds.
The Lynk & Co 03 Cian Concept is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine. It produces a hefty 528 horsepower and 504 Newton meters (372 pound-feet). This torque is channeled to its front axle via a six-speed sequential gearbox that features paddle shifts. The car can run the 0-60 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds, and the sprint from 0-128 mph (0-200 km/h) in 10 seconds. It then reaches 193 mph (310 KPH).
It’s a concept. It is. Motor1.com reached out to Cyan Racing to get a better understanding of the car’s current status. Although it is a concept car, the vehicle that set the records was road legal and is registered in Sweden. A production version of the car will also be available in limited quantities to VIP customers and the same specifications as the concept. Are you sure that it is fast enough to be a front-wheel-drive and four-door production vehicle at the ‘Ring’? You can decide. The Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR holds the four-door record with a lap time 6:57 and 57 seconds.
