Honda now wants the Civic Type R, front-drive car at four more European circuits to break records.
The Honda Civic TypeR has been proven to be one of the most front-wheel-drive performance vehicles . Honda’s CTR, front-drive production cars, holds the lap record at France’s Magny-Cours Grand Prix circuit. This is a further confirmation of the hot hatch’s abilities. Esteban Guerrieri, FIA World Touring Car Cup driver, lapped the track at 2.73 miles (4.4 kilometers) in 2:01.51.
Guerrieri drove a Civic Type R with production-spec tires. It had 316 horsepower (235kilowatts) as well as 295 pound feet (400 Newton-meters torque), which was a lot more than the 306 hp or 295 lb.ft ratings for the American examples.
Honda plans to set similar lap records at four other European circuits, including Estoril, Portugal, Hungaroring, Hungary, Silverstone, England, and Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. To attempt these fast lap times, the company has a very talented driver line-up, including Jenson Button, former Formula 1 World Champion, Tiago Monteiro (World Touring Car Cup), Bertrand Baguette (Super GT) and Matt Neal (British Touring Car Championship).
Honda can still boast that the Civic Type R is the fastest front-drive production car, even though these drivers are unable to take it on record-setting runs.
Runde of the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:43.8 The 2018 Civic Type R will be available at U.S. dealers later in the year. Honda raises its base price by $605, to $35,595, with $895 destination. Although the new model year does not bring about any major changes, the hot hatch’s price still beats rivals such as the Ford Focus RS or Volkswagen Golf RS.
