Ghost Rider trades in his motorcycle for a muscle vehicle.
Ghost Rider will be jumping from the silver screen to get a prominent television role on Marvel’s Agents of Shield. A new ride is also being piloted by Ghost Rider, which matches his comic book appearance. The latest video from the Aficionauto shows the building of the Hellcharger , a 1969 Dodge Charger which might look very similar to a muscle car in a blockbuster movie franchise.
Bob Hartwig is familiar with Chargers as he owns one from the Dukes of Hazard TV Series and one from Fast and Furious . Moviemachines was contracted to build Ghost Rider’s powerful muscle car for the series. Hartwig tried to convince Hartwig to make something else, but the producers insisted on a vehicle that was almost identical to Dom’s Charger. They came to an agreement on something that was very similar, but not identical, to the F&F vehicle.
Moviemachines had only three weeks to make a pair of these cars, making it even more difficult. Because Fast and Furious builders cannibalized many of the charger shells for their movie car building, they have made them rarer on the West Coast. Hartwig and his crew started this project with two very old machines. However, they did an amazing job with them.
The Aficionauto shows viewers how hard it takes to build a car for Hollywood. It also reveals some of the secrets. The big blower that comes out of the Charger’s engine doesn’t connect, for example. Hartwig and his team devised a clever solution that makes it appear very real.
Hartwig pointed out that Ghost Rider’s unique ability to ride in any type of vehicle is one of its greatest assets. It’s fascinating to see the Agents of Shield TV series keep this in mind, matching Ghost Rider’s comic portrayal with his current depiction onscreen.
