Harald Wester, Maserati CEO, has given some details about Maserati’s mid-engine sports car.

According to EVO Wester, the model would look “every bit like the Alfa Romeo 4C except for Maserati”. It would be approximately 4.4m long with a carbon fiber monocoque, which could allow the car to weight around 1,200 kg (2.645 lbs).

A 4.7-liter V8 engine producing 460 PS (or 338 kW/ 454 horsepower) will power the car. Wester suggested that the car could be fitted with a turbocharged engine and a substantially identical version of the 4.7 liter V8.

Webster stated that he wanted the car to be more enjoyable to drive than a 911 Turbo and to also have a lower price. Although we won’t limit production, I would like to see us selling between 1500-2000 units per year.

Although the model has not been approved for production yet, it could be given green light soon and put into production in 2015.
