The fastest sedan in the company ever reached 203 mph.
Maserati announced its intention to refresh its lineup with the unveiling last month of the Ghibli Hybrid. Modena’s Modena peeps are giving Ghibli the Trofeo treatment. This is the smaller of the two sedans. The Quattroporte will also be unveiled in this same configuration.
The Levante Trofeo and the fast sedans share a twin turbo 3.8-liter V8 Ferrari engine. The new Trofeo additions pack a beefy 580 horsepower, and 538 pound-feet (730 Nm) of torque, much like Maserati’s SUV. They top out at a respectable speed of 203 mph (326 km/h), making these sedans the fastest ever to sport the Trident logo.
The Ghibli Trofeo weighs in at a little less than the Quattroporte Trofeo, so it can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in a mere 4.3 seconds. The Levante Trofeo has AWD, but the two performance sedans have a rear-wheel drive system and a limited slip differential. All Trofeo models have an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
The Prancing Horse power is also available to the Ghibli Trofeo, Quattroporte Trofeo. They are distinguished visually from the lower variants by red accents. Redesigned taillights, inspired by the Alfieri concept, and 3200 GT were installed. A revised front fascia was also created with a modified grille and carbon fibre accents.
Maserati also designed a new Ghibli Trofeo hood with dual air ducts to improve engine cooling. This is the same design as the Levante Trofeo hood. The SUV comes with larger 22-inch wheels. Both sedans have 21-inch wheels.
Once you get inside the cabin, there is Trofeo-specific trim or upholstery. The biggest improvement is the new infotainment system. It now features a 10.1-inch touchscreen, instead of the 8.4-inch. The screen is larger and has crisper graphics, thanks to an increase in the resolution.
It is worth getting a Ferrari-powered Ghibli and Trofeo as soon as possible. Louis Camilleri, Ferrari’s CEO, previously stated that the engine supply agreement will not be extended after the current agreement expires. He predicted that the last Maserati with an engine made in Maranello would be in 2021 or 2022.
The V8 was not used in the Ghibli before, but the Quattroporte had it for years in the spicy GTS model. Maserati’s most recent product roadmap through-2023 states that a replacement for the Ghibli will not be available until 2024. However, an all-new Quattroporte will be released in 2022. Future models will feature the company’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter “Nettuno”, which debuts in the MC20 supercar on September 9.
