Maserati unveiled a limited-edition GranTurismo S MC Sport Line during an exclusive event held at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.
The S MC Sport Line customization programme launched in Bologna last summer. The Sport Line limited edition features a matte “ICE” paint job. It is not to be confused with the “…experience gained on the track by Maserati Corse racing, whose contributions to the design and construction of the functional parts have been invaluable. Maserati’s styling was also inspired by motor racing, hence the use of carbon fibre.
The production will be limited to 12 units, all of which will be destined for the Middle East. The 12th symbolises the number of world titles that the MC12 has won in the FIA GT International Championships. The number 12 also represents the number of Middle Eastern cities to which each unit will be assigned. Every car will have a plaque identifying the city it is dedicated. Maserati will build 11 GranTurismo MC Sport Lines for Italy, despite this exclusivity.
The Sport Line also offers an optional aerodynamic package that includes two front winglets, rear lip spoiler and door sill inserts. It also has black window surrounds, exhaust pipes, and door handles in body-color. You can also choose from carbon fiber door mirrors and ‘carbon finish” door handles.
The car also features an MC Sport Line suspension, which has drilled-and-slotted disc brakes, stiffer dampers and larger antiroll bars.
Maserati did not release performance data for the Sport Line, but it is believed that it uses a 4.7-liter V8 motor that produces 440 horsepower and 361 lbft of torque.
