The exterior is gray, giving the body a stealthy appearance. However, inside there’s a splash of color where occupants will find red leather.
Maserati maintains the Levante moderately interesting by launching a special Vulcano edition of the SUV in Europe or Asia. These models are very rare, as only 150 units were produced by the Italian brand.
The Vulcano edition features Grigio Lava matte dark gray exterior paint. The Nerissimo pack adds tinted taillights and dark chrome trim to the exterior. The windows are darkened by laminated privacy glass. This special model is 21 inches in diameter and has a matte finish. Red, six-piston Brembo brake discs behind it add color to the otherwise black-gray body.
Once inside, the occupants will find full-grain leather seats and the Maserati Trident embossed on the headrest. The company offers the reverse motif in black hides and crimson thread, as well as the red upholstery with black stitches. This edition features glossy carbon fiber trim on all cabin surfaces, including the gearshift paddles and the center console. This Levante is also distinguished by a chrome Vulcano badge.
Vulcano Edition comes with two tunes for the 3.0-liter twin turbo V6. It offers buyers either 345 horsepower (257kilowatts), 368 pound-feet (499 Nm) of torque, or 424 HP (316 kW) or 427 lb/ft (579Nm). The Levante’s twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter is not available in special versions such as the 590-hp (405-kW) Trofeo and 542-hp (354-kW) GTS.
The Levante has had a difficult time in the premium SUV segment. Maserati stops production and reduces work hours in order to meet the limited demand.
