Although it might lose drag races, the amazing sound of this MC12 makes up for it.
Although the MC12 had the same underpinnings as the Ferrari Enzo’s powertrain, it also featured a unique body that allowed for better aerodynamics. The machine was huge, measuring 202.5 inches (5.143 millimeters), despite only having space for two people. A modern Chevrolet Tahoe measures 203.9 inches (5.179 mm). The Maserati roof could be removed by owners to allow them to hear the 621-horsepower (463 kilowatt) 6.0 liter V12. This was another distinguishing feature that distinguished the MC12 and the Enzo. The company integrated its own analog clock into the lower part of the center stack. Maserati also sold 12 track-only Corse versions for the MC12. These models used lightweight components from the race car to increase the V12’s power output to 755 horsepower (563 kW).
This video shows the MC12 with an aftermarket exhaust. It makes the V12 sound incredible. The supercar’s performance in drag racing is not as impressive despite the incredible noise. It is defeated by the Carrera GT and SLR, as well as the Ferrari F50. The driver seems to be more interested than winning these runs. So don’t take these losses as a true example of Maserati’s performance potential.
