Images shared on social media follow a similar theme as the MC20 Cabrio teaser in 2021.
Maserati is planning a convertible version of its MC20 supercar. It was even teased that a convertible version of Maserati’s MC20 supercar would be coming towards the end 2021. We haven’t heard anything more about the topic in the six months that have passed since the announcement. Technically, we haven’t heard anything about an open roof MC20.
Maserati shared some peaceful images today on social media, showing wispy clouds against a blue sky. We didn’t notice it at first but we noticed the message that advised the world of a new way to view the sky on May 25.
The fact is, the topic has not been mentioned once. MC20 Maserati’s post on social media shows the car, or any other car. This could be a collaboration between Maserati and a special pair sunglasses. We don’t know.
We revisited the old MC20 convertible teaser From December 2021. The car is imminent, as an earlier Maserati product plan suggested that an MC20 Spider would be available for sale in 2021. It’s difficult to imagine anything other than this car, given all the references to blue skies. But The convertible What can we expect to see with this information? Other than more sky, the previous evaluation of an early prototype showed standard-issue MC20 bodywork starting at the A-pillars forward. There will be some modifications to the rear, including the likely removal of the flat-topped clear engine cover. This would make it possible for the roof to retract and could also result in changes to the large fender vents that flank the rear pillar.
The engine is still a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6. There’s no reason for it to be stopped in its full 621 horsepower glory. The engine is connected to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that turns only the rear wheels. It propels the MC20 hardtop up to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. Convertible parts add weight so don’t surprise if the Spider weighs slightly more.
