Rimac claims that the next-gen Bugatti will have a “very attractive combustion engine.”
The order books for the Chiron and Bolide have been received by Bugatti, so it is time for the hypercar manufacturer’s leaders to begin thinking about what the future holds. In an interview with Automotive News Europe, Mate Rimac, the CEO of the eponymous EV manufacturer, gives an overview of the new model’s potential.
“It would be the easiest for us to just take the Nevera, put a Bugatti logo on it, and call it a day. But I was against it. Although I am an electric car person, I believe that Bugattis should have a combustion engine for a while. Rimac stated that the electric car will be made financially feasible.
Rimac describes the new Bugatti to be “heavily electric” and uses a “very attractive combustion engine.” The powerplant’s displacement and cylinder arrangement are unknown at this time.
These statements are consistent with Rimac’s previous statements about Bugatti’s future. He admitted last year that the model was in development for approximately a year. He suggested that it might be available to the wealthy in 2022. The public debut of the company’s products will be delayed until 2024 for those who don’t have the money to purchase one.
According to Rimac, people will be “astonished” at the new Bugatti according to an earlier video interview. According to Rimac, the model features never before seen on a production car.
It is still unknown what the shape of the next Bugatti model will look like. However, it might not be a mid-engined model. Rimac is open for building a coupe with either a long or crossover-shaped machine to promote the brand. Rimac hopes to bring a complete EV to Bugatti before the end the decade.
Bugatti and Rimac merged in 2021. Porsche also holds a 45 percent share of the newly combined automaker. Rimac is constructing a new headquarters at Zagreb in Croatia. Rimac stated that he wanted the site to be part the larger community. Rimac said that there are children riding around on their bikes, and they look at our ways of doing things. He said Automotive News Europe that he would be horrified if they had to exclude them.
