Although a few images of the vehicle’s design were leaked recently by the Internet, Mercedes-Benz now has all the details on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultra Luxury concept for the Auto China Show in Beijing. By combining the best of both an SUV and sedan, the vehicle’s designers have created an unusual shape to appeal to the Chinese market.
The Vision Ultimate Luxury has an all-wheel-drive, electric powertrain. The total output of the four electric motors is 738 horsepower (550 Kilowatts). The 80-kilowatt hour battery can provide an estimated range of more than 200 miles (322 km). Fast-charging would enable you to recoup 60 miles (97 km) in as little as five minutes.
The vehicle’s design is striking, but not necessarily beautiful. The Vision Ultimate Luxury Concept’s front features a huge chrome grille, which immediately draws attention. The model’s aggressive and sporty appearance is also due to its muscular fenders and large intakes in the lower fascia.
However, the design’s bizarreness is most evident in its profile. Although the model looks like a luxury SUV with its proportions, the tail drops to make it look more like a notchback. The designers also put a lot of emphasis on the treatment of the rear passengers. Vision Ultimate Luxury drivers receive a pair 12.3-inch digital displays. One for instruments, one for infotainment. However, it won’t likely look like this concept’s unusual blend of sedan and SUV design. Mercedes will likely use the GLS to build the luxurious model.
