All details will be made public next month.
The upcoming Mazda CX-60 was photographed in public testing just a few days back. As this was the second time the crossover had been spotted in the wild, the Japanese automaker has kept the details a secret. It’s possible, but it’s not impossible. The company has already released an teaser for the upcoming CX-60 PHEV, the first PHEV to sport a Mazda badge.
Based on last year’s alleged undisguised sighting, we have an idea of how it might look. However, Kolesa friends tried to make the prototype visible so they could imagine the CX-60. It’s not surprising that the result is so impressive. The unofficial rendering shows an evolution in Mazda’s Kodo design style. The biggest difference between the Mazda crossovers of today is the square grille and the different daytime running lights.
The CX-60 here looks exactly like a Mazda. The quad exhaust tips on the prototype are fake. Although it looks like a Mazda 60, the CX-60 has a different under-the-skin. It rides on a new rear-wheel drive platform designed for in-line engines. The PHEV we had previously seen has been confirmed to produce over 300 horsepower. The CX-60 is part the “Large Product Group , which was announced in October 2021. The CX-70 will be the American counterpart, while the CX-80, a larger three-row version, is destined for Europe. The CX-90, a fatter version of this aircraft, will be available in the USA. Mazda will launch the CX-60 in March 2022, before any of these cars are in the spotlight. We will soon learn more about the PHEV and if it will be an electrified version.
