Mazda Driver Nearly Killed by Railroad Crossing Gate during Chase

Talk about a close shave.

We present this video showing a car crashing through a railroad crossing, just in front of a train. The train was not the main danger. The source of this near-death experience was, to our surprise and likely to the surprise the driver, the floppy crossing gates.

Although we don’t know much about this clip, it is a good idea to have some background information. This clip is from Poland. It was uploaded to YouTube in January. This is what the video description says. However, it’s curious that the purpose of sharing this clip was and not to discourage vigilantes fleeing from the cops. The description instead extols the virtues to not ignore the lights (or gates) at railroad crossings lest you get punted down the track or hit by a train. In this instance, it was a death by a red-and-white beam to the face.

Although the video doesn’t show it, it does not ignore that the driver was almost impaled by a crossbar. Crossing bars don’t always explode upon impact. This one was strong enough to pierce through thick glass. The video description warns drivers not to maneuver around obstacles when they are down. However, it instructs drivers to ram them if they get stuck on the track between them. Although the barriers are meant to be broken, we don’t believe they should pierce windshields of Mazda stationwagons that are speeding up and jumping over the track.

What happened to the wagon? As the video shows, the train stops at the track and blocks the crossing, indicating that the risky move was successful. Criminals are often unaware that cameras can be used to capture details such as number plates and faces of drivers. According to Car Throttle, the would-be stunt driver was ultimately arrested and charged with all manner of things, including property damage.
