This couple is so Mazda when it comes to design.
Mazda has created a pair of new driving shoes in collaboration with Mizuno, a Japanese sportswear company. The sneakers are a collaboration with Mizuno and feature Mazda’s Kodo Soul of Motion design. They have the same minimalist lines as the Mazda cars, but with a simple styling approach.
Mazda held a live stream on YouTube to launch the driving shoes.
However, the Mazda x Mizuno pair is not just about looks. It’s supposed to offer “a light, stable and comfortable pedal operation.
Key features of the Mazda/Mizuno driving shoe include a dorsiflexion support, which improves pedal controllability.
The sole of the pair is rounded, which increases contact with the ground and allows for easier foot rotation when driving. The Achilles tendon is protected by a structured mesh that absorbs any deformation and maintains the fit.
Most driving shoes have thin, hard soles that are uncomfortable outside of the car. Mizuno uses Cob technology “pod Clusters” to cushion. This technology allows for direct feedback and feel from the pedals while being comfortable enough to use every day.
The Mazda/Mizuno sneakers are only the beginning of the automaker’s venture into lifestyle products. Through lifestyle products and experiences, the company hopes to “enrich lives” of customers. Mazda believes in a special relationship with customers and wants to offer premium cars.
Pre-order the new Mazda driving shoes at Makuake starting at Y=39600, or approximately $360 based on current exchange rates. Deliveries to customers are expected to start in March 2022. The release doesn’t mention delivery to Japan addresses.
