This supercar is unique to the driver of Australia’s native Australia.
Over the years, we’ve seen many beautiful creations from the McLaren Special Operations division. There was this HTML720S that required 20 days to finish, a Le Mans Edition, which featured throwback cues and models made exclusively for the track. MSO’s latest project honors McLaren’s legendary racing driver, Daniel Ricciardo.
This McLaren 720S Daniel Ricciardo Edition is named after Honey Badger. It sports the iconic blue-and orange livery. The body is covered in the same Papaya Spark Orange as the McLaren F1 cars. There are also Burton Blue accents on both the rear and side mirrors. Ricciardo’s number 3 is also embedded on the door.
McLaren claims that only three of these supercars will be built, each with an orange-and blue exterior and a black-and–orange interior. We expect the 720S to have the same twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 that produces 710 horsepower (529 Kilowatts) as well as 568 pound-feet (707 newton meters). The 720S can reach 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, and a maximum speed of 212 mph (341 kmh) with all that power.
As mentioned, all three cars will be heading to Ricciardo’s home country, Australia. The trio will land at McLaren Sydney or McLaren Melbourne later in the year. Price information is not available, but you shouldn’t expect a very limited edition to be cheap. The McLaren 720S costs just $300,000.
McLaren’s commercial director George Biggs told the Australian website AutoExpert that McLaren’s exceptional performance at the Italian Grand Prix was a testament to his team’s success. “It’s the perfect moment to unveil this limited series in honor of the Aussie driver,” Biggs said.
