McLaren 765LT Burns To Pile Of Ash In Fire At Gas Station

There is not much left.

After the fire in Upper Gwynedd Township in Pennsylvania, just north of Philadelphia, there’s now one McLaren765LT left in the world. While the car was filling up at the gas station, the fire broke out. The owner suffered no injuries other than the heartbreak from having to part with this machine.

According to fire officials, firefighters were there for over two hours trying to extinguish the flames. The flames grew to such a degree that the McLaren was reduced to a heap of metal and plastic that they were unable to put out the fire. Only the hood was the only remaining body panel. Although the fire department does not specify the cause, the images indicate that it may be related to the vehicle’s refuelling. Photos of the aftermath show that this car is not repairable. The monocoque is no longer visible. Only bits of suspension and exhaust pipes are still visible.

McLaren produced just 765 examples the 765LT. It is powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine that produces 755 horsepower (563 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (890 Newton-meters). The 720S’s 720S-compatible seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is 15% faster than the modified version. In 2.7 seconds, the model can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) at 60 mph. To shed 176 pounds (80 kg) on the 720, the company used carbon fiber and other lightweight materials.

Original asking price for the 765LT was $358,000. The owner’s insurance company may not be too pleased about the possibility of settling the claim.
