McLaren 765LT Launches with 755 HP and Lots of Carbon Fiber

McLaren will only build 765 and deliveries will begin in September.

The McLaren765LT is the latest longtail offering from British brand. The 720S is used as the starting point. However, engineers have modified the existing model to reduce weight and create a more agile supercar. McLaren will only build 765 of these longtail models and deliveries will begin in September.

McLaren’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 makes 755 horsepower (56 kilowatts) and 590 poundfeet (890 Newton-meters). With tweaks to make the shifts 15% faster than a 720S, the power is transmitted through a seven speed dual-clutch gearbox. McLaren claims that the 765LT can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds, 62mph (100 km/h) within 2.8 seconds and 124mph (200 km/h) within 7.2 seconds.

The 765LT is 176 pounds lighter than the 720S and weighs in at 80 kilograms less than the current coupe. The new longtail weighs in at 2,709 pounds (1.229 kilograms) dry. Advanced carbon fiber and titanium exhausts with four outlets at the back make this a more economical option. The glass is also thinner. The new longtail is equipped with 10-spoke wheels and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tire.

The 765LT’s carbon fiber body features include a revised bumper, bumper, side skirts and diffuser. These components combine to improve handling. The track at the front is 0.24 inches (6 mil) wider and the vehicle sits lower at 0.2 inches (5 mil). The engineers replace the springs with additional helper springs, and update the algorithms for Proactive Chassis Control II suspension control. You can also get a faster steering ratio.

When the time comes to slow down, the 765LT features carbon-ceramic brake rotors from the Senna. A customer can choose to have the Senna’s discs equipped with a set of unique brake pads for their LT.

A 765LT occupant can see carbon fiber everywhere he or she turns. Carbon fiber is used in the seats, the center tunnel and exposed areas of the floor. Alcantara upholstery is also available. The standard model does not have air conditioning or an audio system. However, customers can request them as options at no cost. You can also choose from lightweight Senna seats.
