McLaren celebrates 50th F1 anniversary with Specialized Road Bike

The custom bike will set you back $11,500.

McLaren and Specialized have created a street bike that will look great in any road race, to celebrate 50 years of Formula One racing and historic grand prix racing. The S-Works McLaren Roubaix is the latest collaboration between the brands. It follows the Venge special edition, the S-Works Tarmac and the Venge ViAS. To honor McLaren’s race cars, the Roubaix is finished with a Heritage Orange finish. The Roubaix also uses McLaren’s data logging software to develop the Rolling Efficiency Simulator. This piece of software was used to partially design the bike. Specialized’s FACT 11r carbon body features 12×100 and 12×142 thru-axles, rear hydraulic cat mount disc brakes and S-Works carbon fibre crankset. You don’t have to know all the technical details of bike riding. The Roubaix’s body is a copy of 720S” carbon fiber construction.

The McLaren Roubaix comes with custom leather bar tape in Heritage Orange stitching, a silver polished badge and matching hubs. Roval CLX 32 hoop tires are also included. The Shimano Dura Ace Di2 motor is paired with the bike, which also features upgraded CeramicSpeed bearings in both the bottom bracket and hubs. This technology is comparable to McLaren’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission. All this Specialized performance will not come cheap. McLaren Roubaix buyers will pay $11,500. This is slightly more than the $10,000 starting price for S-Works Roubaix.
