McLaren F1 Roadster Imagining a Supercar That Never Existed

Maybe it was the right thing to do?

These images were created without harm to any McLaren F1s. Although it is difficult to believe, these images are not photographs. They are renderings of an F1 roadster from MMM Design.

These photos are amazing in quality. The photos look like they were taken in 1990s Motor Trend. There is even some grain. It’s a perfect color for this era.

The standard F1 nose looks identical, and the changes begin at the doors. Only a fraction of the windows can be lowered on the McLaren regular, while they can fully retract. This means that the butterfly-opening doors have been removed. The unusual window arrangement was required to enable the mechanism to accommodate the coupe’s more extravagant design.

There can’t be any scoops up there without a roof. Instead, the inlet flows to the raised section between the seats. This is a rendering of the back shots. The piece has a clear cover that exposes two carbon fiber tubes.

The rear deck is now revised with a pair of nacelles located behind each seat. Clear sections are located on either side of the inlet.

The interior appears to have not been modified, but there is now unlimited headroom. There is still room for the driver to sit in the middle, while there are enough space for passengers on either side.

The roadster wouldn’t be as slippery as the coupe, despite the design changes. With the roof down, it might still reach speeds of more than 200 mph (322 km/h), which is still a lot of speed.
