The McLaren GT is the fourth model in the brand’s 2025 Business Plan.
Last year, this was announced
. McLaren’s new car targets a completely different audience, someone looking for supercar performance and maximum comfort on long-distance trips. According to McLaren, the new GT is lighter, more responsive, and faster than any other model in its niche.
The grand tourer is built around the monocoque carbon fiber MonoCell II–T Monocoque structure, which has exceptional strength and rigidity. It weighs in at 3,373 pounds (1.530 kg). Under the glass tailgate, you’ll find a 14.83-cubic feet (420-liters) storage compartment. This is hidden beneath a standard soft-close function and an optional power-opening and closing. McLaren claims it has placed the engine and exhaust system as low possible in order to make more room. A further 5.30 cuft (150 liters) of cargo space is located at front. This totals 20.12 cuft (570 Liters), which is the largest McLaren. The 570GT, GT’s spiritual successor had 13.1 cuft (370 Liters).
The cabin is designed to be comfortable for long journeys and features heated, electrically adjustable and heated seats. McLaren claims they have the perfect padding, shoulder and back support, making them ideal for long-distance travel. McLaren’s most advanced infotainment system, ambient lighting and an optional electrochromic roof replace the standard carbon fiber panel made of glassy black carbon fibre. Additional cost is charged for a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system with carbon-fiber subwoofer, Kevlar midrange and speakers.
McLaren’s engine mounts are half the stiffness of the 600LT to improve comfort and reduce noise in the cabin. The GT’s twin-turbo V8 engine is a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 that produces 620 horsepower (452 kilowatts) as well as 465 pound-feet (4630 Newton-meters). It can produce torque between 5,500-6,500 rpm. The motor is connected to a seven speed dual-clutch transmission and propels the grand tourer to speeds of 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds. McLaren says that the engine with internal code Mc840TE has more then 95 percent of its peak torque between 3,000 to 7,250 rpm. This means you will have plenty of power for overtaking at all speeds.
The GT’s suspension is based on a version 720S_’ Optimal Controller Theory chassis. This uses signals from sensors that read the road ahead and predict what will happen next. It can also adjust the dampers in less than two milliseconds. There are three modes of active steering available: Comfort, Sport, or Track.
McLaren dealers all over the globe have the new GT in stock. Customer deliveries are scheduled for the end of the year. Prices start at $210,000 (MSRP).
