McLaren Sabre leaked with Wiz Khalifa approved black and yellow look

Finally, the camo has been removed to reveal a supercar with a wild design.

It would be an understatement to say that the Sabre was a long-awaited project. The hardcore McLaren was first discovered in October 2018, when a report about Woking’s interest in making the Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo a real car came out. Before a trademark filing was made in June 2020, the report mentions a codename that could be used to refer to the “Sabre”.

Flash forward to last month and revealing design sketches based on a trademark filing showed the car from virtually all angles. The Sabre made an unexpected Instagram debut thanks to cochespias. The image appears to have been taken in a building where McLaren was finishing up the model’s final touches. The second image looks like an official rendering, with a black-and-yellow livery that would make Wiz Khalifa proud.

It looks like the Sabre is a Senna GTR that had a one-night stand alongside Gran Turismo Sport’s virtual race car. We love the way the brake lights are integrated to mimic the design of the Ultimate Vision GT’s tiny headlights.

The Senna GTR can only be used on the track, while the Ultimate Vision GT is available on Sony’s console. However, the Sabre was spotted on UK streets recently, which means it will be road legal. While some claim that it is a one-off, others say it will only be available to 15 cars. Internet consensus suggests that the V8 4.0-liter twin turbo engine combined with an electric motor will provide power for a grand total of 1,150 horsepower (944 pound-feet of torque

It will be interesting seeing where the Sabre fits in McLaren’s lineup, especially considering that CEO Mike Flewitt said recently that the next Ultimate Series Model won’t arrive until 2025. The model would be a direct successor to the P1 and the Sabre does not fit that description, so it is likely he was referring to a different car.

Although the official unveiling is expected to occur soon, we are sure that many one-percenters who have a soft spot McLaren will have seen the Sabre.
