Nurburgring master MishaCharoudin is here to highlight the differences between a McLaren Senna GTR and a McLaren Senna. McLaren Senna GTR’s track-only status allows the McLaren engineers freedom to abandon some compromises to the Senna roadcar. Mclaren eliminated the second set of Catalysts from the GTR’s exhaust system, reducing weight. This allowed McLaren engineers an additional 25 horsepower to the Senna. The engine produces 814 horsepower.
The aero package is what makes the difference between the regular Senna and the GTR. The Senna GTR does not have to clear speed bumps or other road imperfections. This allows McLaren engineers to take control of the atmosphere. McLaren Senna GTR can generate 1,000kg of downforce, or 200 kg more than the standard Senna. The massive front splitter, and the huge rear wing are responsible for this increase. These large aero pieces are then complemented by tiny carbon-fiber wings, which were perfected in a wind tunnel.
The interior of the Senna is stripped to make the GTR lighter. Senna GTR is impressively light at 1,188 kg (2,619 lb) and 10 kg (22lbs) less than stock Senna. This allows for better performance all around.
