It’s the exact same car Queen Elizabeth II used before.
The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has concluded. While the royal union is a major interest, we couldn’t help but notice how the car she came in.
The 1950 Phantom IV was used as the chauffeur for the new Duchess, Sussex. This car was also made for Queen Elizabeth II while she was still a princess. It is also the first Rolls Royce Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip owned, which shows just how special this car is. Although sentimental value is the most important, there are many other aspects to it.
What makes the 1950 Phantom IV stand out from the rest of British marque’s creations, other than its owners?
The Phantom IV is only one of the 18 Rolls-Royce cars built between 1950 and 1956. Yes. 18. Take note that all 18 cars were made only for those who the brand considered worthy. This is right, only members of the British royal family or other heads of state were allowed to drive this magnificent car.
The vintage Phantom IV’s appearance confirms Meghan Markle’s inclusion in the royal family who have used this classic transport. Kate Middleton, who was on her 2011 trip to Westminster Abby to attend the royal wedding of Prince William and Prince Harry, used the Phantom IV.
There are currently 16 Phantom IVs, including one used by the new Duchess in the royal wedding. The remaining 15 are in museums, private and public collections. We aren’t sure if they all still work as well as the one that we saw at our wedding, considering the fact that they are six decades old.
