Horsepower has increased by 23 but torque remains the same at 384 pounds-feet.
Mercedes has given the C-Class models with lower trim levels a mild refresh in 2019 and is now working on the C43. While it looks almost identical to the previous version, there are a few important changes. The front grille now features the AMG twin louver in matte iridium, while the bumper sports a pair of flics at each air vent.
The first thing you will notice about the rear of the car is the new shape of the quad exhaust tips. They are now more round than angular. They have a high gloss black finish and a diffuser that is slightly more aggressive, giving the C43 a sportier vibe. For an added visual impact, opt for the optional AMG Night Package. Some of the exterior parts will be painted in a similar shiny dark black.
The exterior changes include modified LED taillights and headlights, as well as new wheel designs for the U.S-spec model available in 18- or 19.-inch sizes. Mercedes explains that these alloys are not only new in appearance but also increase aerodynamic efficiency.
Once you lift the hood, the good news continues. The upgraded biturbo V6 is revealed. Mercedes-AMG engineers have upgraded the turbochargers to boost output by 23 horsepower to 385 HP at 6,100 RPM. However, torque remains unchanged at 384 lbft (520 Newton-meters) and is available at 2,500 RPM.
The 2019 Mercedes-AMG C43 Sedan in the United States will take 4.6 seconds to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a stop. It will also top out at electronically controlled 130 mph (209 Kph). Like before, the V6 engine works together with a nine-speed automatic transmission in charge of sending output to the rear-wheel-drive-biased 4Matic AWD system.
The new cabin is adorned with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that offers three viewing modes: Sport, Supersport, and Classic. The C43 is standard with a 10.25 inch infotainment screen and a flat-bottomed AMG steering column clad in Nappa.
Tomorrow’s Geneva Motor Show will see the Mercedes-AMG C43 make its public debut. It will be available at U.S. dealers late in the year, along with the C300. They will be available in rear- or all-wheel-drive configurations. The C43 is equipped with 14 horsepower more than the 2018 model.
