Do not expect a debut before the end of this year.
Mercedes now offers mid-range models to fill the gap between its mainstream models and the more powerful AMG models. The C Class will most likely be either the C43 or whichever Mercedes chooses. Spy photos have shown the AMG model in action, while a new set of photos shows the sedan cold-weather testing at the Swedish ice rink. However, it will be some time before Mercedes changes its camouflage.
Even though Mercedes has revealed the new C-Class, the latest photos show the car still covered with camouflage and plastic cladding. The front cladding hides the C43’s aggressive front bumper. This likely has larger intakes and grille openings. Mercedes can’t hide the C43 at its rear because the quad exhaust pipes sticking out from the underside of the car make it difficult for Mercedes. The C43 will be similar to the C-Class model. This is not a radical departure from the original design.
Although we don’t think the C43’s design will distract people, they will notice the underside of the car. Or, even more likely, what’s missing. Mercedes has replaced the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with hybrid technology. Instead, the company will install its turbocharged M139 four-cylinder. It produces 416 horsepower (310 Kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (599 Newton-meters), of torque. Although it has more horsepower than the V6, the four-pot engine produces less torque. The mild-hybrid technology should allow the 2.0-liter to surpass the V6 in terms of performance.
Mercedes unveiled the 2022 C-Class just a few weeks back. We won’t likely see the AMG C43 debut before later in the year. It could be pushed to the market as early as 2022. The company could even push it until early 2022.
