Mercedes-AMG C63 Wagon, Sedan Spied Squealing Tires At Nurburgring

The spy video also captures the hybrid exhaust note from the four-cylinder engine.

Spy shots taken over a month ago showed both the Mercedes AMG C63 sedan & wagon testing less camouflage than before. Mercedes covered the significant styling changes at the front, rear and sides with coverings. A new spy video captured both variants at the Nurburgring demonstrates that Mercedes is not ready to remove more camouflage.

These videos capture the cars driving hard on the track as well as the surrounding roads. The cars are making a lot of noise, including the sound of the exhaust note and squealing tires. It won’t have the eight-cylinder thundering engines. The hybrid powertrain will be the next AMG C63.

Mercedes decided to ditch the V8 in favor of a hybrid 2.0-liter four cylinder. The engine will be powered by an electric turbocharger as well as an electric motor. It will produce 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). This is a lot of power but the model will be limited to the nine-speed automatic transmission. There will not be a manual.

Camouflage disguises car’s finer points, but the car’s distinctive face and quad tailpipes reveal its AMG underpinnings. The lower grille opening is also modeled after the Panamericana grille of AMG.

The interior of the new Mercedes will be in line with the interiors of its previous debuts, particularly the S-Class which has an interior that is already popular throughout the Mercedes range. A digital screen will be mounted on the dash of the instrument cluster. The larger screen will be positioned lower on an instrument panel as the car’s infotainment centre. This place should be stylish and packed with all the latest tech and creature comforts.

Mercedes has not yet announced when the new AMG C63 will be introduced. Mercedes is expected to start with the AMG C53, which is less powerful, before introducing the AMG C63 towards the end of this year. Mercedes has made significant progress in its development with recent spy photos and videos showing the cars sporting production headlights.
