AMG’s influence is hard to conceal.
Mercedes presented the EQE last month at the Munich Motor Show. It joined the EQS as well as the brand’s expanding all-electric lineup. The hotter AMG version was soon out for testing. However, the automaker covered it with a full-body wrap. The spy photos show the car without any camouflage and give us a glimpse at its AMG-inspired styling.
Its sportier look is instantly evident with its large air intakes and aggressive front skirt. AMG also adds a larger trunk spoiler and air outlets to the rear of the EQE’s back wheels. These features, along with the AMG’s painted brakes and slick black wheels, are not obvious. Only the front fascia and two spots at the lower rear bumper are camouflaged. The trunk lid and spoiler are exposed.
Mercedes-AMG has not revealed any details about the potential performance numbers of the model. It did however hint at it when the EQE was launched. The EQE boasted 671 horsepower (500kilowatts) and future versions will have similar power. This is a lot of grunt but it’s still lower than the range-topping with its 751 horsepower (552kW) on tap.
Standard EQE 350 can handle 288 hp (215 kW), but there may be other AMG models available with different outputs. The company’s newest variant, with its large brakes, is what we are likely to be looking at. It will be available soon. Mercedes took five months to release the EQS variant. We expect the same timeline for the AMG variant. This would mean that the AMG EQE would break cover in February or March if organizers didn’t cancel it.
