This G-Class is ready for adventure with its taller ride height, large roof rack and larger cargo area.
The Mercedes-AMG G-Class4x4 Squared spy photos show the muscular SUV in light camouflage. The grille and the center of the rear wheels cover are the only significant coverings.
Mercedes wants us to be a little bit confused by the G-Class Squared 4×4. The grille can be seen in spy photos with three sets horizontal bars. The black surrounds of the headlights are not visible on this vehicle.
The windshield covering appears to hide a light bar because of its shape. The fenders flares on the 4×4 Squared are wider than those of a regular G-Class. A skid plate is located underneath the front bumper on the 4×4 Squared.
Photos taken from the side of the SUV show the elevated ride height in comparison to a G-Class. The roof rack extends across the entire top so you have plenty of room to store your gear.
Rear features include a spare wheel carrier and a tubular steel holder. The roof rack is accessible via a ladder. The back bumper is simple and black with a few circular holes.
As with the rest of G-Class’s range, expect power from a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8. It is not clear what the tune of the engine will be. It produces 416 horsepower (310kilowatts), in the G550, and 577 horsepower (430 kW), in the AMG G63.
The previous-gen G Class 4×4 Squared was available only for the 2017 model year in America. It included parts such as a lifted suspension or portal axles. It had 17.7 inches (450 mm) of ground clearance, and 39.3 inches (1,100 mm) fording depth. The engine produced 416 horsepower (310 kW).
The new G-Class 4×4 squared is expected to make its debut sometime in the next year. Mercedes has yet to give an exact date for the unveiling of this rugged model, however.
