Only a year ago, the high-performance crossover coupe was unveiled.
Are you ready to have a nose-to-tail? Although the GLC63 Coupe was unveiled online in April 2017, Mercedes-AMG has been out testing an updated version. This may seem surprising, but it makes sense when you consider that the GLC Coupe / GLC Coupe will undergo their mid-cycle updates next spring.
The official product roadmap that we published yesterday showed the two crossovers being released in the first half 2019. Three-pointed star company wants all GLC flavors to have the same updates. That is why the 63 S and 63 S models are rushing to get facelifts to match the rest.
As the prototype was seen with very little camouflage, don’t expect major styling changes. Mercedes-AMG chose to hide the Panamericana front grille but it’s not clear if this will be done for the GLC 63 Coupe. While the front bumper’s design is still hidden under the swirly camo pattern and cutouts may indicate that the crossover will receive new air vents of a different shape, those cutouts could be an indication.
It’s a little more interesting to see the prototype’s derriere, considering that the partially covered LED taillights have new graphics and the rear diffuser flanked with the quad exhaust tips appears to have been modified.
The spy shots don’t include images of the vehicle’s interior, but you can see all the changes in the F-Cell. This refers to the revised touchpad and digital instrument cluster as well as the larger infotainment system that was already installed in the hydrogen-powered crossover.
Mercedes will either introduce the revised 63 models with the lower trims, or it will take time to find out. The GLC range will all be updated in 2019, except for the F-Cell model.
