Deliveries of the F1 powered machine will finally start later in the year.
The Mercedes AMG One has been a long journey. The Project One hypercar, first revealed in concept form in 2017, has been through many development challenges and a pandemic. It should be available for purchase by 2021. It’s worth the wait, except if a racer with more than 1,000 horsepower (746 kilowatts), doesn’t get you moving.
A series of photos were shared by Affalterbach’s performance-minded friends on Instagram to remind us of its existence. Some images were broken up into a mosaic while others provided a closer look at the exterior features of the One. Although each post has a unique description of the photo, you won’t find any new information. Mercedes wants you to remember that the One is full of F1 technology and influence, including hybrid systems.
You can browse all posts on the Mercedes AMG Instagram page. However, if you need a bigger view, we have merged the mosaics to give you a better look at the machine. Although the posts don’t go below the skin, there are plenty of things to see from the outside. These images show the One’s unique shape with its massive center spine. However, active aero components such as the rear wings and vents in the wheel arches can also be seen.
There is more to the wild shapes than meets the eye. The One’s small, 1.6-liter V6 engine is adapted from the Mercedes F1 W06 hybrid racer. It spins at a staggering 11,000 rpm and, with four electric motors, it will produce over 1,000 horsepower. We have heard that the engine could produce 1,200 horsepower. It was difficult to get the engine to comply with increasingWLTP emission standards. However, the car will still be among the fastest and most maneuverable road cars ever made.
Driving one will not be an experience that many people will ever have the pleasure of experiencing. With a price tag of almost $3 million, 275 models are in production. Every model has a buyer in the pipeline.
