Mercedes-AMG SL43 under consideration for the US

A cheaper AMG roadster? Yes, please.

Mercedes-AMS has introduced a new entry-level version the all-new SL Roadster earlier this week. The four-cylinder gasoline engine is equipped with an F1-inspired electronic turbocharger. Although it may not sound exciting to drive an AMG roadster with no V8 underneath, the new SL43 can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.9 seconds. Mercedes has not yet confirmed plans to bring the new base SL model to the United States, but it appears that the door is open for now. Car and driver The German automaker was contacted by us to confirm that the four-cylinder SL will be sold in the US. Mercedes did not confirm the news, but stated that the Mercedes beautiful roadster was still being considered for the US market. The SL43 will be cheaper than V8-powered models if it is approved for sale in the United States. Mercedes has not yet released pricing information for the roadster. However, we believe the SL55 will be priced at approximately $135,000 while the SL63, which is the most expensive, will cost around $165,000. The SL43 is priced at around $115,000, which seems reasonable to us.

The 2.0-liter base model’s engine has an internal number M139. It uses an electric exhaust gas turbocharger with an motor attached to its turbocharger shaft. The shaft spins up until exhaust gases take control and continue to generate the boost, just like a traditional turbocharger. This magic trick produces a peak output power of 381 horsepower (284 Kilowatts) as well as a solid 354 pound-feet (408 Newton-meters), of torque at 3,250 rpm. A starter-generator system can be added to the mix, adding an additional 14 horsepower (10 kW) for short periods. The engine’s power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels by a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
