The Edition 550 is equipped with Nappa leather upholstery in two colors and diamond stitching. This special edition features active multi-contour front seating with side bolsters and active multi-contour rear seats. The cabin is decorated with carbon-fiber trim.

The horizontal slats in grille and the brush bar surrounding the headlights indicate that Edition 550 starts with the G 550. This grade is powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8. It produces 416 horsepower (310 Kilowatts) as well as 450 pound-feet (601 Newton-meters). A nine-speed automatic gearbox and a two speed transfer case combine to deliver the power. In 5.6 seconds, the SUV can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) and is capable of delivering power in just nine-speed automatic gearbox.

Mercedes is somewhat surprised to release a special edition G-Class because it is struggling to keep up demand for its SUV in certain markets. With 41,174 deliveries , the G-Class set a new global record for sales in 2021. Last year, the company moved 8,523 vehicles in the United States. This was 10.4% more than it did last year.

Mercedes currently has an update of the G-Class in development. These changes are minor. The front fascia has been redesigned with new intakes at the corners. The hood appears to be flatter. The fender flares are more angular.

Two other G-Class variants are also in development. Because these vehicles have very little camouflage, spy shots suggest that the new 4-x4 Squared is still in development. These models have a higher ride height. This could be due to a light bar at the windshield, roof racks, and ladders on the back.

The fully electric G-Class is expected to arrive in 2024. A preview of the Concept-EQG is available. The ICE-powered models look very similar, but the grille is illuminated. There’s no spare wheel carrier at the back. Instead, the storage area can be used to store charging cables and other items. The concept features a shiftable 2-speed gearbox, which allows drivers to use a crawler gear for off-roading.
