Expect small powertrain changes.

Mercedes-Benz has been working on the refreshed GLS-Class for several months. But, we finally have new photos. This model is more production-ready than the one before.

A new front fascia has been added to the nose. It features open elements at the corners. This element makes the GLS more distinct visually. There are no changes to the grille or headlights.

There are no modifications to the sides. There might be new wheel designs, similar to the recently spied GLAClass refresh.

The taillights are covered by the camouflage strip at the rear. Although the wrapping conceals a lot of it, the shape of the pieces is the same. The layout of the lamps inside them appears to be different.

We do not have spy photos of the GLS. Our spy claims that the updated GLS has new graphics for the digital instrument cluster, and infotainment. A new steering wheel has been spotted.

The Maybach GLS will also be updated. The spy shots that we last saw (gallery below) only showed modified headlights.

There are no indications that the GLS will be getting any changes to its powertrain. There are no strong signs of major changes.

There are many grades of GLS available in the US. Base trim is the 450 4Matic, which comes with a mild-hybrid turbocharged inline-6 3.0-liter engine. The 580 4-Matic is available with an upgrade to a mild-hybrid twin-turbo V8. The AMG 63 comes with a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 that produces 603 horsepower. This application’s Maybach GLS 600 4-Matic also has a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 with EQ Boost tech that produces 550 horsepower.

the EQS UTV will be available later this summer to offer customers an electric option with a comparable position in the lineup. The 450 model will have 355 horsepower and the 536 horsepower in the 580. AMG models will be available later. Mercedes already has a concept for a Maybach version for those who desire to cruise in zero emissions opulence.
