Mercedes-Benz May Introduce the GLE 580 SUV with a Tuned AMG V8

Although it’s not confirmed at the moment, evidence is mounting.

It can be difficult to keep track of all the new and upcoming Mercedes Benz models. In September 2018, the Mercedes-Benz GLE class was introduced. The only model we saw was a GLE 450 mild-hybrid producing 362 horsepower (270 kilowatts), from a turbocharged 3.0-liter I6. AMG presented a 429-hp (320 kW) GLE 53 at March’s 2019 Geneva Motor Show. However, reports that a hotter engine option is possible – not the new AMG GLE63 but a GLE 580.

The report specifically mentions a visit to the Carbuzz People had a good experience with a Mercedes-Benz dealership. An order form was allegedly created while they were there and showed a GLE 580 model. Mercedes does not currently offer such a machine. However, there is an option. GLS 580 was just announced With the new GLS-Class The 2019 New York Auto Show. It’s Merc’s latest range-topping product SUV Under the hood, is a twin-turbocharged V8 of 4.0-liter capacity that produces 483 horsepower (360 kW). GLE 450 and GLE 580, GLE 53, GLS 580, GLE 53, GLE 53, GLE 580 – this stuff is a serious deal! Quite complicated.

Mercedes-Benz May Introduce the GLE 580 SUV with a Tuned AMG V8

It is important to be clear that no engine option was discussed with the GLE 580. At this point, the consensus is that the smaller GLE 580 will feature the boosted V8 because the larger GLS 580 does. This theory is supported by – we hesitate to write this because it only complicates things further – the lower-level GLE 450/GLS 450 sharing the same I6 powertrain as the GLE 450.

Symmetry aside, a V8-powered GLE 580 could bridge the gap between the AMG tuned GLS 53 (yes, another Mercedes model was added to the mix), and create a massive SUV with over 600 horsepower (447 kW) from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.

We are not going to blame you for getting lost in the alphabet soup of models listed here. Mercedes will soon offer a new mid-size SUV model with a powerful V8 in its high-end range. Although it won’t be AMG, it will fit nicely between the AMG-tuned model and the forthcoming AMG-tuned model.

We should have started with that, and filled the rest with links to drag races or smoky burningouts.
