Mercedes unveiled the S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY at Paris Motor Show.
The car’s engine is a four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 150 kW (204 PS/201 hp) as well as 500 Nm (369lb-ft). Although it sounds like the end of the world, the S 250 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. It also reaches a top speed at 240 km/h (149 MPH). Importantly, the S 250 consumes 5.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (41.2 mpg US), while CO2 emissions are only 149 g/km.
Mercedes equipped the engine with twin turbochargers and an automatic start/stop system to achieve class-leading figures. Engineers “extensively revamped” the seven-speed manual transmission (7G-TRONIC PLUS), to improve efficiency.
