Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled the S65 AMG Coupe following last weekend’s Rumor.
The styling differences between the S65 AMG Coupe Coupe and the S63 AMG Coupe with V8-powered engines are minimal. Mercedes-Benz and AMG maintain a refined look for high-powered models and keep it simple. The changes include a shinier mesh front grille and vents and yellow brake calipers in place of red. Unique wheels are also included along with the obligatory “V12 BITURBO” badge.
The V12 6.0-liter twin turbo V12 engine is under the hood. It comes from the S65 AMG Sedan and produces 630 PS (463kW) and 1,000 Nm (1,737 lbft) of torque. It will cover the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 4.1 seconds (0.2s faster than S63 AMG Coupe) before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) in Europe and 186 mph (299 km/h) in United States.
An AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS7G-TRONIC directs power exclusively to the rear wheels. The sports Magic Body Control suspension also benefits from the familiar cruve tilting function. The wheels are 20-inch alloy multi-spoke alloy wheels with 285/35 R20 rear tires. For an additional 20 percent, a ceramic compound brake system can be added.
The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe is already available for order in Germany. It will go on sale at the end of September. The United States will receive it later this year.
