While Mercedes-Benz is still waiting to show us the facelifted SL in its entirety, we have several images of the outgoing model in the rare “Mille Miglia 417 Edition”, which was only available for the SL 400 (SL 550) in the United States. This package was created to commemorate sixty years since a 300 SL equipped with the racing number “417” was raced by John Fitch, an American racer. The race ended at 4:07 AM, covering 1,597 km (992 mi) in 11 hours 29 minutes and 21 seconds.
The most notable visual change in the car is the designo black magno matte finish, which has red and matte carbon accents. The wheels are AMG Performance 19 inch front and 20 inch rear. Inside the cabin, there are AMG Line seats with carbon-like leather and red trimming that have been added to the steering wheel.
The familiar V8 4.7-liter bituro engine with 449 bhp (335 kW), at 5,250 rpm, provides the propulsion for the US-spec SL 550. This is enough power to run 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h), in just four and a quarter seconds.
The facelifted SL will be revealed to the public next week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
