Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH will provide an illuminated central grille star to many of its compact models.

The white star emblem, which is made of an optical fiber and LED technology, is only lit when the car is stationary. The “Illuminated Star”, which lights up when the car is not locked or the engine is turned off, glows. It lights up when the trunk or door is opened. The star will turn off 15 seconds after the trunk or door is closed.

The luminous star is already available for purchase for the M-, GL-Class models. It will be available for optional purchase starting next month for C-, CLS, E-Class models. Distronic Plus or Distronic Plus cars won’t have it. A star must be placed in the radiator grille. This feature is optional and costs 300 EUR.
