For the Entry Luxury category, there will be four model options instead of seven.
Mercedes has restructured its product portfolio to make it “the most valuable luxury car brand in the world”. It is dividing models into three types: Entry Luxury Core Luxury and Top-End Luxury. The plan calls for 75 percent more investments to be made into larger and more luxurious vehicles. This will mean that compact cars will not be as important in the future. The German automaker plans to reduce the number of Entry Luxury models variants by reducing the number from seven to four. Mercedes does not provide details on which compact vehicles will be affected by the proverbial knife. The three-pointed star is responsible for the sale of the following small cars. Mercedes will soon launch its first electric model on the dedicated MMA platform, and this is just the beginning of more information about Entry Luxury. As part of Mercedes-Benz’s tech push, the zero-emissions vehicle will also introduce the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System. It is what the people who shop in this segment want: “These changes will position Mercedes-Benz in that segment, honing more precisely in on the wishes of the discerning customers.”
Core Luxury will bundle C-Class and E Class models with their derivatives. German premium brand Core Luxury has confirmed that the E-Class will be joining the EQE SUV models in the next generation model. Mercedes will launch a Chinese-specific model using the same electric car platform. The Top-End Luxury category will include all products from AMG and Maybach, as well as the S-Class and G-Class and the GLS. These products will be available alongside the EQS, EQS SUV and “limited edition models” and special collaboration vehicles. Mercedes hopes to increase Top-End car sales by 60 percent in 2026, compared with 2019. It is aiming to achieve an operating margin of approximately 14 percent by the end of the decade.
The AMG Vision concept, which will be unveiled later today, will show off a unique platform called AMG.EA. This platform will allow electric sports cars to debut in 2025. The Maybach side will see the EQS SUV with the double M logo hitting the market in 2023. Mercedes has confirmed that a Maybach SL will be available. The G-Class’s EQG will arrive in 2024. It will use a higher-density pack of battery thanks to silicon chemistry. The new “MYTHOS Series”, which will include limited-run special cars, will only be available to “the most dedicated Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and collectors.” According to the company, each model will be included in the “historical pantheon” of greats.
