Mercedes E-Class gets heavy doses of Brabus steroids

The reputable tuner offers everything from power upgrades to body kits.

Since 1977, when Brabus was founded in Bottrop Germany, Brabus has been modifying Mercedes vehicles. The E-Class W213 is now the latest model to get the aftermarket treatment. It’s available with a wide range of goodies for those who don’t like the standard version.

The exterior styling package includes new air intake surrounds, and a front spoiler lips to give the E-Class Sedan a more aggressive look and lower lift. The trunk lid can have a discreet spoiler lip, and the rear bumper can get a diffuser flanked with quad exhaust tips.

Brabus is happy to provide a set custom alloy wheels in any size, from 18 inches to 21 inches. The largest are available with 255/30 ZR21 front tires and 295/25 ZR21 back high-performance tires from Pirelli, Yokohama or Continental. You can spend more to customize your E-Class sedan by getting stiffer springs that lower the ride height by about 1.2 inches (30 mm). However, these are only available for cars with optional air suspension.

The tuning package would not be complete without tweaks to the engine. The V6 3.0-liter in E350d receives the D6 S Kit adding 50 horsepower (37kilowatts), and 74 poundfeet (100 nm). The diesel-powered EClass Sedan will produce 305 horsepower (227 kW) & 531 lbft (720Nm). It can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds. This is two tenths faster than the regular model. You won’t be allowed to go faster than 155 mph (250 km/h) with the electronic speed limiter.

Brabus also offers a D3 power package for the E220d. This kit gains 27 HP (20 kW), 37 lbft (50Nm), and 219 hp (163kW) respectively. The total power output is 219 hp (163kW) and 332 Lb-ft (453 Nm). Although performance is not known, it should be a fraction faster than the regular E220 which takes 7.3 seconds to sprint at 149 mph (240 km/h).

The entry-level E200 is equipped with the tuner’s B20 plug and play module, which increases the output of the turbocharged 2.0 liter gasoline engine to 221 horsepower (165 kW) or 243 lbft (330Nm).

Finally, the cabin has many customization options, including leather and Alcantara upholstery, as well as stainless-steel scuff plates with an illuminated Brabus logo, in 64 colors (sixty-four).
